What is a carbon laser facial?

A carbon laser facial, sometimes called the Hollywood peel, starts with a thin layer of carbon lotion on the skin. The laser is then passed over the face, where it heats and breaks up the carbon, taking oil, dead skin and impurities with it.

It leaves skin brighter, smoother and less oily, with refined-looking pores. It's popular before events and suits most skin types.

What to expect

1. Cleansing and application of a carbon lotion
2. Protective eyewear is worn
3. The laser is passed over the skin; it feels warm and tingly

5. Skin looks brighter straight away; a course of 3 to 6 gives the best results

Aftercare

• Avoid makeup for the rest of the day if you can
• Avoid active skincare such as retinoids and acids for 48 hours
• Use daily SPF
• Drink plenty of water
